For a worker, iqama renewal is the employer's job, done on Muqeem, Absher Business or Qiwa. A family head renews dependents and household workers on Absher Individuals. Watch your own expiry date on Absher and remind HR well before it.
What the renewal bill is made of
A renewal is not one fixed price. The screen can show the residence fee, the employer's work-permit levy, any dependent fee and the insurance condition. Jawazat has said iqama and dependent fees can be paid quarterly, half-yearly or yearly through the government payment system. The amount on the official screen is the one that counts. Check the current fee on Absher.
- Dependents and companions: SAR 400 a month each, from July 2020, per the Passports notice. See Saudi dependent fee.
- Renewing a companion's or household worker's iqama while outside the Kingdom costs double the in-Kingdom fee, under the December 2022 Cabinet amendment reported by Saudi Gazette.
Late renewal fine
Jawazat restated its rule in July 2026, as reported by Saudi Expatriates and Arab Local: SAR 500 for a first late renewal and SAR 1,000 for a second, and a third violation can lead to deportation. Those are press reports of the Jawazat statement, not a Jawazat web page, so check the amount Absher shows for your file. Renew before the expiry date and the question does not come up.
Last checked: Oct 2026. If Absher shows a different figure, pay what Absher shows. Fees and fines can be revised by decree.
Next steps: check iqama status, exit re-entry visa and final exit.
