Emirates ID renewal: ICP fees, late fine and steps

ICP's Emirates ID renewal fee for residents is AED 100 per year plus a AED 100 smart fee. The late fee is AED 20 a day, capped at AED 1,000.

By Gulf Guide

You renew your Emirates ID through ICP, either online (the ICP website or the UAEICP app) or at a customer happiness centre. For most residents it is renewed together with the residence visa. u.ae says it can be renewed after it expires or up to six months before.

Official renewal fees for residents

  • Card fee: AED 100 for each year of residence (ICP service card).
  • Smart application fee: AED 100 when you apply through smart services.
  • Late fee: AED 20 a day if renewed more than one month after expiry, up to AED 1,000 (u.ae).

Typing centres may add their own service charge. Ask for a receipt that separates it from the government fees.

Fingerprints

u.ae says anyone aged 15 or over must give fingerprints and a signature at an ICP service centre.

Last checked: Oct 2026. For Dubai residence visas, the visa side is done through GDRFA Dubai. Renewing the visa itself is covered in UAE visa renewal.
